A SURVEY ON PLANT RESOURCE BIODIVERSITY OF BAT XAT NATURE RESERVE

Located at the start of Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Bat Xat Nature Reserve has a rich natural landscape in which primary forests still remain in the area of Y Ty-Den Sang-Sang Ma Sao. Due to its topographical, geomorphological, geological and climate factors, this area is rich in biodiversity with many typical vegetation. The vegetation of Bat Xat nature reserve comprises 12 formations, 8 groups, 6 subclasses of 3 formation classes of vegetation. This nature reserve supports a high diversity of vascular plant. 969 species, 553 genera and 156 families belonging to 6 vascular plant divisions have been recorded in this area, including 53 narrow endemic species distributed only in the area of Hoang Lien Son mountain range; 56 rare and threatened species and 466 useful species used for medicine, food, handicrafts, and essential oils, etc. This is a valuable plant resource that must be protected and developed sustainably.
